Bikes and Bombers exhibit
On August 24, 2024, I visited the Lyon Air Museum in Santa Ana, CA, for an unforgettable experience at their ‘Bikes and Bombers’ exhibit. As a vintage motorcycle enthusiast, I’m always fascinated by how different mechanical worlds come together, and this exhibit did just that. The museum, known for its impressive collection of WWII aircraft and military vehicles, expanded its focus by showcasing the connection between aviation and motorcycles.
The ‘Bikes and Bombers’ exhibit was a great example of how we preserve history—whether it’s a warplane in the sky or a vintage bike on the road. Walking through the museum, surrounded by restored machines, I noticed the similarities between the planes that once flew over battlefields and the motorcycles that raced across them. Both are engineering marvels of their time, and this exhibit beautifully highlighted the link between them.
